Established in 1963, the University of Essex is a public research university. It welcomed its first students in 1964 and received its Royal Charter in 1965. Their largest campus is in Colchester within Wivenhoe Park, two miles outside of Colchester. The University of Essex also has campuses in Southend-on-Sea and in Loughton.
Embassy was contracted this job by DLM Contractors on the back of a successful project we previously completed on the auditorium at the University of Essex. The University specially requested that Embassy Site Services were contracted to carry out the works.
The work required was to erect a large scaffolding structure over 600m long in the underground carparks for the removal of redundant pipework, however due to the carparks being in use Monday – Friday, this meant that the scaffolding had to be put up on a Friday after 5 pm, and removed before Monday morning where the carparks would be in full use again. This was a necessary requirement every weekend for 14 weeks to ensure that there was no disruption to this working University.
There was a team of 6 men that worked on this project for the duration of the project.
“I was most pleased by the planning on this particular project. With limited timescales available, our team acted professionally and efficiently”
